Vanuatu footballer Brian Kaltak has continued his long career by joining Australia's A-League.

Kaltak started for the Central Coast Mariners against Wellington's Phoenix on the weekend.

He said it was remarkable seeing the players from the Phoenix, as he had trained with the club early in his career.

He has also played for Tasman United and Auckland City in New Zealand.

"Playing in one of the local leagues in New Zealand yeah so that's where I started my football there. And Sunday was remarkable because for me because after a few years I am now playing against them, so yeah it was good it was good," he said

Kaltak hopes to have an impact on the next generation of Pacific-based footballers after joining the A-League.

He wants the system to encourage more players from the islands to make it internationally.

"We have to keep on track on the system because it will help all the other young kids in the future to grow up because I am here I want more players from the islands that go in the A league. If I can do this then all of them can do this," he said.
