Papua New Guinea coach Adrian Lam says he's keen to stick around and ensure a competitive Kumuls team fronts up at the Rugby League World Cup in 2013.
Lam previously coached the Kumuls for five years before resigning last year amidst a period of infighting over the leadership of the PNG Rugby Football League.
With an AGM scheduled for later this year the political squabbling has died down and Lam returned to coach the team against the Australian Prime Ministers Thirteen last month.
He says he's keen to stay on for the long haul, starting tomorrow with the first of two test matches against Fiji.
"I certainly as a coach have got one eye on the World Cup. We've got to try and get the right players and squad in position now, as early as we can, so we can help develop them to a position and place where we think is at our best. It's ongoing, it's tough work, but these players have got an opportunity this weekend up in Mount Hagen to show their wares and try and hold on of those positions."
