Police said villagers discovered and identified the body of the 20-year-old on Sunday and it has since been returned to his home village Koilovala for burial.

The other man, a 19-year-old, is still missing.

The pair were travelling with 20 other people from the capital Honiara to Bungana last Tuesday when their boat sank in rough seas.

Everyone except the two men were rescued on the night of the sinking.

Police are investigating the incident and have been reminded people not to overload their boats and to always check weather reports before attempting inter-island crossings.
