Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency crews will be working on the winding section of State Highway 1 from 8pm to 5am from Sunday 13 February through to Thursday 17 February.

Transport companies are being warned ahead of time to plan for the detour, which will take motorists through the Lewis Pass on State Highway 7.

Waka Kotahi encourages people to plan for the opening times as traffic will be queued at each end while the road is closed.

State Highway 1 through the Weld Pass will open again each morning at 5am.

Electronic mobile signs will advertise the closures at each end - near Blenheim at the Roadhouse entry and in Seddon.
