Police have spoken to staff at a South Auckland kindergarten after a child was injured there.

They said the child received facial injuries at the Manurewa West Kindergarten on Wednesday.
Police, as well as the Ministry of Education, are continuing to look into the incident.
A ministry spokesperson said a team was at the kindergarten today to gather more information but is unable to provide further details until the investigation is complete.
"The safety and wellbeing of children is of utmost importance, and parents and whānau need to have confidence their children are learning in safe, well-run services. We want people to speak up when they're unhappy or unsure of something.
"Every complaint we receive is treated seriously. We assess each complaint, and investigate when required. If a service falls short of the regulated standards, we impose conditions for improvement or shut the service down."
The kindergarten's manager declined an interview but said they are working with the Ministry on its investigation.
National's Early Childhood Education spokesperson Nicola Willis said the ministry should consider suspending the kindergarten from caring for children while investigations are underway.
"All families with children at Manurewa West Kindergarten deserve to know whether their children are safe in its care.
"Most ECE teachers and services do an incredible job and parents are confident about the education and care their children receive. The Government must act decisively when incidents of this nature occur so that parents can be assured their confidence is well-placed.
"The key priority right now is the safety of children, and the Government must act as openly and transparently as possible so that parents have the information they need to ensure their children are safe."
