Emergency landing at Wellington Airport ends safely

19:50 pm on 11 June 2011

A plane made an emergency landing at Wellington International Airport on Saturday evening after a warning light indicated there might be a fire in one of the engines.

Wellington police say the Air Post aircraft with five people on board shut down the engine on its approach to the airport shortly after 6.30pm.

Traffic in the area was diverted as a precaution but the plane landed safely just before 7pm.
