All train services in Wellington are currently suspended due to an overhead power fault on a single train.
Tranz Metro said the train broke down at a critical junction at Wellington Station about 7.30pm, which meant no trains could enter or depart Wellington Station.
Buses are taking passengers between Wellington and Petone with trains shuttling to Upper Hutt.
Services on the Kapiti Coast line were also been replaced by buses, with trains running between Porirua and Waikanae.
