Highly technical work is being carried out to try and determine the best possible site for a proposed water storage site in Wairarapa.
The group known as the Wairarapa Water Use Project is conducting detailed investigations into geotechnical, water distribution and economic factors as it tries to reduce the number of its preferred water storage sites for its irrigation scheme down from five.
Project director Michael Basset-Foss said while the work has been been rigorous, they have not managed to rule out any of the preferred five sites just yet, and the group is talking to farmers.
