The former press secretary of Colin Craig, Rachel MacGregor, has requested he withdraw defamation proceedings against her, saying she wants to get on with her life.
Mr Craig - who used to lead the Conservative Party - last week told RNZ he had filed papers in the High Court, but was unlikely to take the case any further.
Ms MacGregor said the claim was an abuse of process.
She said neither she nor her lawyers were served papers, and she had been advised that that breached High Court rules.
Ms MacGregor said over the past year she had been dragged unwillingly into two court proceedings at which she had to give highly personal and distressing evidence.
