The co-founder of Destiny Church is taking court action over her bid for the leadership of the Maori Women's Welfare League.

Hannah Tamaki, the wife of the church's leader Brian Tamaki, is one of eight candidates seeking the league's presidency, but her name was not on voting papes sent out last week.

On Thursday, her lawyers filed papers in the Wellington High Court seeking a hearing relating to the omission of her name from voting papers.

The hearing is likely to take place on 20 July.
