Mangamuka homicide: Third person arrested, charged with assault

A third person has been arrested in relation to a homicide investigation in Mangamuka.

Police said they were not seeking anyone else.

A man died in the Far North town on Sunday night after being stabbled.

Two people, a 50-year-old man and 39-year-old woman, were arrested and charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon, respectively, earlier this week.

On Friday, a 38-year-old man appeared in the Kaikohe District court charged with assault.

Further charges cannot be ruled out.

Detective Inspector Al Symonds said police wanted to reassure the community that the death apepared to be an isolated incident.

"Police would still like to hear from anyone with information regarding the incident to call 105 or provide information online using Update My Report.
