The undersea cable network comprises of two cable systems including the SAS cable between Samoa and neighboring American Samoa, and the ASH cable between the Territory and Hawaii.

Speaking at the launching, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi acknowledged the hard efforts by ASH cable in American Samoa to provide assistance for local contractors in getting the project completed without any major difficulties.

Tuila'epa says there is no doubt Samoa's telecommunications will improve and that will benefit the tourism industry, the business community, education and people of Samoa.
