Contenders for the leadership of the Labour Party are lining up as Phil Goff prepares to make an announcement on his future on Tuesday.
[image:3938:third:right]Mr Goff is expected to announce he will stand down in the wake of Labour's election loss.
David Cunliffe and David Parker are seen as the frontrunners to replace him.
David Shearer, Grant Robertson and Shane Jones have been mentioned as possibilities but none is seen at this stage as being a serious contender.
Radio New Zealand's political editor says Mr Parker apparently has the edge as many Labour MPs are unimpressed with Mr Cunliffe's conduct this year.
Some are furious at what they see as Mr Cunliffe's lack of support for Mr Goff.
The party's deputy leader, Annette King, is also expected to step down after the party's worst result to date under the MMP voting system. Labour gained 27% of the vote giving it 34 seats in Parliament.
