One person has died and another has been seriously injured after a crash in the Waimakariri District in North Canterbury this afternoon.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on Depot Road, View Hill, between Harmans Gorge Road and Watsons Reserve Road this afternoon.
Police said in a statement another person reportedly suffered serious injuries.
The road would remain closed while the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene, police said.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible.
