A patched King Cobra member has been charged after firearms were found in the Auckland southeast suburb of Flat Bush.
Police staff from Operation Cobalt, which targets organised crime groups across the country, were investigating a recent firearms incident in the region when they stopped a vehicle of interest late last week.
Detective inspector Aaron Proctor said a revolver and ammunition were found inside and a further search of a nearby property located a sawn-off shotgun and cartridges. All were seized.
A 36-year-old patched King Cobra member, who was a passenger in the vehicle, has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
He has also been charged over unrelated driving offences.
The 27-year-old driver has been charged in relation to unrelated offending.
The police investigation into the firearms incident, where a firearm was reportedly presented from a vehicle in Ōtara earlier this month, was ongoing.
Police said they found the vehicle involved, as well as two others, and impounded them.
