The rainbow crossing - at the intersection of Cuba Mall and Dixon Street - will be repainted in early January, as Wellington City Council continues its commitment to being an inclusive capital.

The rainbow first appeared in 2018 and this is the first time it is being repainted, at a cost of $17,500.

The job will be carried out by Downer NZ and Fulton Hogan, with some night work expected.

Weather dependent, the repainting will take place between 7 and 9 January, with the road closed between Victoria and Taranaki streets over this time.

Residents, delivery, and business vehicles will be allowed access.
