A two-year-old girl knocked over by a reversing car at her South Auckland home has been transferred to Starship children's hospital in a critical condition.
The toddler was playing in her back garden with her siblings when she was hit about 10am on Monday.
A neighbour told Radio New Zealand she heard someone screaming, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" before emergency services arrived at the house in Mangere.
The girl was taken to the critical care unit at Middlemore Hospital, but a spokesperson for the hospital says she has since been transferred to Starship.
Police have not said who was driving the car and they are yet to decide whether anyone will face charges.
