Police have arrested the man wanted over the firearms incident at the Sofitel Hotel in Auckland last month after carrying out a search warrant at a rural property near Kerikeri this afternoon.
Police said Hone Reihana, 27, suffered a minor injury during the arrest, which was carried out by members of the Armed Offenders Squad, and is receiving medical treatment.
He will be appearing in the Kaikohe District Court tomorrow on charges including discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and unlawfully possessing firearms.
Police said further charges are likely.
In the incident on 15 April, shots were fired at the Sofitel hotel in Auckland's Viaduct Harbour. The shooting was part of a gang conflict between the Mongols and the Headhunters, but there were no reported injuries in the attack.
Four other people have been arrested during the hunt for Reihana and police said further arrests are expected.
Detective Inspector John Sutton said the search at the address was ongoing and police were speaking with a number of other people at the scene.
He said police knew the shooting incident in the Auckland CBD caused "alarm and concern in our community".
"Gun violence has no place in our society and will not be tolerated.
"We hope today's arrest provides some reassurance for the community."
