Young New Zealand football star Sarpreet Singh is reportedly set to leave the Wellington Phoenix to sign with German club and multiple champions league winners Bayern Munich.
German newspaper Bild claims the All Whites midfielder is already in Munich.
The newspaper said 20-year-old Singh is to sign a multi-year deal with Bayern and will initially play for their reserve team, with the hope he'll eventually play for top side.
The Bavarian Football Works website says Bayern Munich was planning on keeping the move under the radar.
"With the departure of attacking midfielder Wooyeong Jeong, a spot has opened up for some serious playing time for Singh."
The website said Singh played a pivotal role in propelling New Zealand to the round of 16 in the U20 World Cup where it was edged out by Colombia on penalties.
This performance is what most likely caught the Bayern board's eye and convinced them to bring him over.
