Police are investigating a number of assaults including a stabbing that took place in Hamilton overnight.
An 18-year-old man was stabbed in the chest during an incident in Hood Street and he is now reported to be in a stable condition in Waikato Hospital.
In a statement, Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson said police believed this incident was connected to other assaults and fights that occurred about 2.25am in the Market Place area.
They include a second man who was left unconscious after he was king hit and kicked on the ground, and a third man who was also assaulted.
An 18-year-old Hamilton man is facing charges relating to the stabbing and other assaults. He is due to appear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow.
Police want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed or recorded these events or who may have information that can assist them.
"We are committed to identifying all those involved in last night's events and holding them to account," Patterson said.
