Gonorrhoea resistance rising

05:36 am on 24 April 2013

Gonorrhoea, a sexually transmitted disease, may soon become untreatable because of increasing resistance to antibiotics.

A British expert on sexual health, Professor Cathy Ison, said health agencies need to buy time in the hope that researchers can discover new, resistant antibiotics to treat the disease.

According to United Nations figures, there are more than 100 million cases of the disease in the world every year.
