A woman charged with making a false complaint to police about a needle in a strawberry, is now facing a second charge of causing loss by deception.

The 28-year-old woman will appear in court after making the complaint to police in Timaru on Monday.
Police said the second charge was added as the result of further inquiries.
They say a significant quantity of strawberries was destroyed as a result of the incident.
The woman will appear in Timaru District Court on both charges late next month.
