Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by 62 runs to register their third win at the tournament in England.

Put into bat at the Hampshire Bowl, Bangladesh posted 262 for seven wickets after wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim topscored with 83 and Shakib Al Hasan (51) reclaimed his position as the tournament's leading scorer.

Off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the pick of the Afghan bowlers claiming 3-39.

Shakib (5-29) then returned to help Bangladesh skittle out Afghanistan for 200 in 47 overs as they fell to their seventh successive defeat.

Gulbadin Naib (47) and Samiullah Shinwari (49 not out) offered some resistance with the bat in yet another batting capitulation by the tournament's bottom-placed side.

Bangladesh move up to fifth in the 10-team standings with seven points from seven games. The top four teams advance to the semi-finals.

Newcastle part ways with Benitez

Manager Rafa Benitez will leave English premier league football club Newcastle United when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Benitez, 59, was expected to depart after failing to agree a contract extension over the last few months.

With the uncertainty over whether or not owner Mike Ashley will sell the club ahead of the 2019-20 campaign, there appeared to be plenty of obstacles for both parties to overcome.

"We have worked hard to extend Rafa's contract over a significant period of time, however it has not been - and will not be - possible to reach an agreement with Rafa and his representatives," the statement said.

Former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss Benitez joined Newcastle in March 2016 but failed to save them from relegation from the Premier League.

The Spaniard stayed in charge and led them to promotion from the Championship, then stabilized the club with a 10th-placed finish on their return to the top-flight and then 13th last season.

Venue for 2026 Winter Olympic announced

Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo have been awarded the 2026 Winter Olympic Games after a vote by the International Olympic Committee membership.

Milan beat Stockholm for the right to host the Games in seven years' time.

The two were the only candidates left after four other cities - Swiss city Sion, Japan's Sapporo, Austria's Graz and 1988 hosts Calgary in Canada - had dropped out of the race with concerns over the size and cost of the event.

Meanwhile China Mengniu Dairy and Coca-Cola have signed a global Olympic deal as joint beverages and dairy sponsors starting from 2021 until 2032.

Coca-Cola's previous deal ran to 2020 and the new agreement makes it the longest Olympic sponsor, having first supported the Games in 1928.

Mengniu is China's top milk products manufacturer.

There were no financial details available for the deal, which will span six Olympic Games.

USA advance to Women's Football World Cup quarter-finals

The United States have slotted two penalties to see off a stubborn Spain side and advance to the quarter-finals of the world cup with a 2-1 win in Reims.

Megan Rapinoe scored from the spot in both halves, either side of an equaliser for Jennifer Hermoso, on Monday to keep alive American hopes of a fourth World Cup title.

The US will face France in Paris in the quarter-finals.

Barty bypasses Wimbledon warm-up

New women's world tennis number one Ashleigh Barty has withdrawn from the Eastbourne International due to an arm injury.

The 23-year-old insists the injury, which has affected her right arm since she was 16, will not hurt her Wimbledon hopes and has opted to rest this week following her success at the Birmingham Classic.

Barty became the first Australian to become world No.1 since Lleyton Hewitt in 2003.
