Gunshots were reported in Mt Roskill early this morning, two days after a triple shooting in the Auckland suburb.
Police received reports of shots around Farrelly Avenue at around 3am.
No-one was injured, but a short time after police arrived they found a car on fire on nearby Denny Avenue.
Police said the two incidents may be related, but it was too early to say whether there was any connection to Saturday's shooting.
In that incident three people were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds in Marion Ave after three men burst into the house about 7.40am.
Two people remain in hospital in a stable condition and the third has been discharged.
"We are making several enquiries, including an area canvas, speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage," Detective Senior Sergeant Nikki Latimer said in a statement.
A number of people had also come forward with information.
Police were continuing to appeal for information about a dark coloured SUV seen near Marion Avenue after the incident.
A scene examination is expected to be completed today, police said.
On Friday night, a man was killed in an apparent shooting in the South Auckland suburb Ōtara.
