Two men in French Polynesia have been charged with aggravated involuntary homicide after their dogs fatally mauled a woman.
The 87-year-old was on her morning walk on the grounds of the Pirae sports stadium when five dogs, including pitbulls, seized and killed her.
Four people had been investigated over the attack and two were charged, risking up to five years in prison.
Witnesses of the mauling tried to intervene but failed to save her.
The dogs were not destroyed as investigations continued.
Two years ago, a toddler in Raiatea was killed by a dog whose owners were given two-year suspended prison sentences and fined $US100,000.
