Searchers looking for a man missing off the South Taranaki coast will this morning decide on the plan for the day.
He was reportedly hit by a wave while fishing on the rocks near Waiinu Beach - about 40km west of Whanganui - at about a 11.15am yesterday.
Following the incident a combined air, sea and land search had taken yesterday. Members of the man's family, police search and rescue, Coastguard Wanganui and surf lifesavers, along with a helicopter crew, had joined the search efforts.
It wasn't known if the man was wearing a life jacket, a police spokeswoman said.
