One man has been taken into custody after an incident in a residential area in Whanganui this afternoon.
Police were called to Somme Parade at about 12.30pm and cordoned off the area around Gloucester and Argyle streets.
Members of the public saw armed police at the cordons.
Police have said it is a family harm matter and have confirmed that one person has been transported to Whanganui hospital with moderate injuries.
The cordons will remain in place while police make enquiries.
