Methamphetamine contaminated beer cans with a distinctive label may be circulating in the community and could prove deadly, police say.
Police investigating meth importation say cans with the 'Honey Bear House Beer' label were used to ship the drug.
"This has come to light as Auckland City police continue to investigate an importation of methamphetamine into New Zealand contained in cans of beer," said Detective Inspector Chris Barry, of the Auckland City CIB.
Detective Inspector Barry said the cans were not available for purchase over the counter or online.
However, part of the shipment may have been given to associates.
He said drinking the beer could cause serious health issues or even death.
The Drug Foundation is urging people to follow the police's advice.
The cans have a distinctive blue and red label and picture of a bear on the front.
