A group of young people have made an unsuccessful attempt to escape from a Youth Justice facility in Rotorua.

Oranga Tamariki said police were called to the Te Maioha o Parekarangi facility yesterday, when the offenders tried to abscond.
It said no one was seriously injured.
Oranga Tamariki an initial assessment showed that systems that are in place to keep young people and staff safe were used successfully.
An internal review is now underway.
