Police are investigating after a woman was found with a serious gunshot injury last night in New Lynn, west Auckland.

Police say they were called to an address in the suburb about 12am.
The woman was taken to Auckland Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
A 26-year-old male has been arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.
Police said he was helping them with ongoing inquiries and they were not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
