Two Chinese arrested with forged Tongan passports

15:50 pm on 17 October 2013

Tonga police say they have arrested two Chinese nationals at the country's international airport and charged them over the possession and use of forged Tongan passports.

The two, who have made a preliminary court appearance, have been remanded in custody until October the 24th.

One is charged with three offences under the Passport Act, while the other faces one count.

The police chief, Grant O'Fee, says further inquiries are being made into this matter as it relates to previous arrests concerning Tongan passports earlier this year.
