The funeral of the woman who died in a house fire in Porirua last week is on Friday.
Michele Shaw died in her Whitby home last Thursday at 2.20am in a vicious blaze which left the house charred.
A givealittle page which has been set up to help support her family said her husband Chris tried to save Michele, the dog and their home he built on Lanyon Place and refused to give up even after emergency crews arrived.
"Michele is an adored Mum and a besotted Nana Chele, and is treasured by a large circle of whanau and friends. Billy loves walks with his Mum, hanging with his Dad and doggy daycare with his mates."
"The whanau of Chris and Michele wish to publicly acknowledge the emergency services who have been involved in this heartbreaking tragedy. Their professionalism and unwavering efforts, along with their kindness and compassion is greatly appreciated," the givealittle page said.
The givealittle page has so far reached more than $5800 from more than 100 people in three days.
Well wishes and condolences have flooded the givealittle page.
"Holding your family in our thoughts. From a fellow Whitby local who isn't far away, " said Shannon.
"We are incredibly saddened to hear of this tragic loss, Kia Kaha, " Kevin and Lisa said.
"I am truly sorry for the devastating loss of your partner, Mum, pooch and family home. I know money is not going to make you feel any better, but imagine each dollar you get here is a hug for you all and a wish for some peace. Xxxx" Lissette Burke said.
