New South Wales has recorded 262 locally acquired cases of Covid-19, and one person has died.
"At least 50 of those infectious in the community during that time," NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.
"Unfortunately other night there was one death, a woman in her 80s who was not vaccinated."
Last night there were just over 95,000 tests done in New South Wales, she added.
The state has now administered 4.4 million vaccinations.
"We are doing really well in terms of increasing the number of people getting vaccinated every day and can I urge everybody who has not had at least one dose of vaccine to come forward and get vaccinated," Berejiklian said.
Due to a notable increase in community transmission in recent days, 12 suburbs in the City of Penrith LGA will now have additional restrictions from 5pm today.
People in these suburbs must only shop for food or other essential goods within 5km of their home. They cannot travel to other areas for work unless they are an authorised worker.
In the past 24 hours, 454 penalty infringement notices were issued across NSW.
Queensland to come out of lockdown
Cairns will be plunged into a snap three-day lockdown from 4pm as restrictions in south-east Queensland ease, after the state recorded nine new community cases of Covid-19.
South-east Queensland's lockdown will lift from 4pm
Seven are linked to the Indooroopilly school cluster, one case is under investigation on the Gold Coast, and one case of concern is in Cairns, with the person infectious in the community for 10 days.
The lockdown for 11 LGAs in south-east Queensland will ease from 4:00pm, with restrictions to remain, but the Cairns and Yarrabah communities will be locked down for the next three days.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said they were "not expecting" the Cairns case - a taxi driver who lives at Kanimbla.
"We are quite concerned about this," she said.
"I need you to stay at home, minimise your movements. Let's test, test, test as much as we can.
"We'll also be working with this man and his family."
Queensland Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said she hoped the three days would be enough for the Far North Queensland communities.
"There is a real risk this already could have spread, which is why from 4pm today, we need to go into lockdown, initially for three days, and I hope that is all that is needed, to work out what the risk is," she said.
Nine new cases in Victoria
Meanwhile, Victoria has recorded 11 new locally aquired cases.
The number of exposure sites in Victoria has risen to 150, with dozens of supermarkets and shops across Melbourne's west added last night.
The cases are all linked to previously reported cases and have not been in quarantine throughout their infectious period.
Victoria's health department is warning of scam text messages being sent to Victorians telling them they've tested positive for Covid-19.
The message claims to be from Melbourne Pathology and states the receiver has tested positive.
The department says anyone who has tested positive to the virus will receive a call from public health officials to advise of the next steps.
Only people who test negative receive their results via text.
