Dolphy Kohu appeared in the High Court at Whanganui this morning.

The 23-year-old already faces four charges, including attempted murder, using a firearm against a police officer and stealing a police car.

Crown prosecutor Lance Rowe this morning added new charges of failing to stop, reckless driving and the pistol charge to the list.

Kohu was in a vehicle police began chasing near Whanganui. During the ensuing chase a police car was rammed, shots were fired and a police car was briefly taken.

Justice Simon France has remanded Kohu and his five associates to reappear in November.
