Lincoln University is expanding the dairy research farm it established in 2009.
A further 20 hectares of university-owned land will be added to the 55-hectare farm for the 2013/2014 milking season and beyond.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Andrew West says it's part of the planned upgrade of the university's portfolio of farms.
The university has 13 research, demonstration and educational farming and horticultural properties in the South Island, adding up to almost 4000 hectares.
