PNG heading towards social breakdown - opposition MP

05:04 am on 22 August 2018

A Papua New Guinea opposition MP says social breakdown could come to a head in the country after it hosts APEC.

PNG is preparing for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders summit in November.

The government says the summit will present a great marketing opportunity for PNG as an investment destination and a trade partner.

But the Madang Open MP, Bryan Kramer, accuses the government of borrowing beyond its means to spend on infrastructure projects in Port Moresby while neglecting basic services around the country.

He spoke to Johnny Blades.
