Show horses killed in fire

13:43 pm on 22 January 2012

A fire in a barn at a farm in the American state of New Jersey, USA, at about 2am on Saturday killed 22 show horses.

The barn at Heritage Acres farm in Lafayette was destroyed.

Owner Betty Hahn told the Star Ledger that the horses had appeared in shows across the region. She said the building was not insured.

State Police said the fire was quickly put out, but all of the horses inside were killed. They say it appears to be an accident.
