Top New Zealander backs Maori Party

The 2014 New Zealander of the year, Dr Lance O'Sullivan, will be gracing Maori Party billboards across the country.

It's part of the party's strategy, Tū Māori Mai - That's Us.

Dr O'Sullivan, who's a general practitioner in Te Tai Tokerau, said he did not make the decision lightly, but he said the party's achievements have had a significant impact on his ability to have influence in his mahi.

The Maori Party's general manager, Norm McKenzie, said he was grateful for the support and believes it would strengthen the party's cause in supporting the candidates in the seven Maori electorates.
