Indonesia's military has denied reports that its forces have shot dead two civilians in West Papua.
The news outlet Suara Papua reported that Indonesian security forces killed two Papuans in house raids at Yoparu village in Sugapa District.
Two other villagers were reportedly injured in this latest bout of violence in Intan Jaya, a regency of Papua province.
An Indonesian military spokesman for the Cenderawasih command, Eko Daryanto, said there was only one person killed.
Mr Daryanto said security forces shot him because he was an armed separatist.
District Secretary Asir Similar confirmed there was a shooting by the authorities in Yoparu village, but indicated the number of victims was unclear.
