Smeltz starts resolving future

14:29 pm on 20 July 2010

The All Whites striker Shane Smeltz has begun sorting out his football future after walking out on the Chinese club Shandong Luneng.

The two-time top scorer in the A-League left China less than a week after announcing his switch to the Chinese Super League club from Gold Coast United.

It's believed Smeltz felt his family couldn't settle in Jinan and he's since gone back to his home in south-east Queensland.

The Professional Footballers Association chief executive Brendan Schwab won't elaborate but says the 28-year-old is preparing to resolve the dispute.

Scwab doesn't think there's chance of arbitration yet but hopes there'll be an amicable resolution as soon as possible.
