Papua New Guinea's Parliament is to consider new legislation governing the behaviour of MPs and political parties.
An amended Organic Law on Political Parties and Candidates is set to go to Parliament in May and the man who helped draft it is confident it will be endorsed.
The Registrar of Political Parties, Alphonse Gelu, says the original law has to be amended after a Supreme Court ruling that MPs could not be stopped from joining other parties.
The new measure had been brought in to bring stability to PNG politics but Dr Gelu told Don Wiseman the amendments will also strengthen political parties.
