Firefighters are staying overnight at the scene of large fire in south Auckland in case it flares up again.
Almost two-thirds of a two-storey building in a Takanini shopping block has been destroyed.
The fire broke out just before 9pm and at one stage there were nine fire trucks and three ladder trucks there.
That's now been scaled back, as the blaze has mostly been put out.
A stretch of Great South Road has been closed, as well as the southern motorway off-ramp at Takanini.
No one has been injured.
