NZ posts another monthly trade deficit

New Zealand has posted its second consecutive monthly trade deficit, as demand for imports picked up.

Statistics New Zealand says the deficit stood at $751 million in September.

Imports rose a seasonally adjusted 3% to almost $4 billion, while exports rose 2% to $3.9 billion.

On an annual basis, the surplus stood at $724 million , compared with more than $1 billion for the August year.
