Dunedin Hospital cuts opposed by regional leaders

Otago and Southland mayors and regional chairs are urgently requesting a meeting with the government following significant budget cuts to a new hospital.

In the week before Christmas the health ministry announced a ninety million dollar cut to Dunedin Hospital, citing supply constraints in the construction industry.

Twelve beds, two operating theatres and two scanners have been dropped from the final detailed business case, along with a link bridge and a pavilion.
