The previous government's plans for a second Waitemata Harbour Crossing have been roundly rejected by Auckland council.

The draft business case was for the construction of two underwater road tunnels, and light rail connecting the CBD to the North Shore.

It would have cost $56 Billion.

Aside from one councilor who abstained due to a conflict of interest, all members of the Transport and Infrastructure Committee voted to oppose the plan.

Acting committee chair Christine Fletcher speaks to Lisa Owen.
