Selwyn District Council is advising residents living in Dalethorpe in Canterbury to boil their water after high levels of E. Coli were discovered.
It says the contamination is the result of flooding in the Waimakariri River.
The council began chlorinating the water on Monday and says residents should boil their water until further notice.
