Sharemarket up in Friday's trade

The New Zealand sharemarket rose on Friday, with the NZX50 index up 43 points, or 1.3%, to 3343.

Turnover in trading on Friday was $94 million.

Among the major movements, Fletcher Building was up 22 cents at $7.75, Telecom up 9 cents at $2.64, and Contact Energy up 10 cents at $5.45

Sky City Entertainment was down 5 cents at $3.35, Sky Network TV up 3 cents to $5.43, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare up 8 cents to $2.53, and The Warehouse down 2 cents to $3.20.

Property for Industry lost 1 cent to $1.15 after the manager of the portfolio, AMP Capital Investors, sold the contract to DPF.

Mainfreight was up 4 cents to $9.80, Hallenstein Glasson up 5 cents to $3.40, and Wakefield Health gained 10 cents to close at $4.90.

Briscoe Group was down 5 cents to $1.35, Nuplex down 3 cents to $2.81, and Turners & Growers down 3 cents to $1.62.

In the currency markets, at 5.20pm the New Zealand dollar was at 76.47 US, 78.46 Australian, 49.04 pence, 58.53 Yen, 0.5650 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 67.99.
