After recently watching Lord of the Rings for the first time, American musician Remi Wolf is even more excited to return to NZ this summer.

The alt-pop star promises to deliver "a lot of energy and a lot of fun and a lot of dancing" in her headline show at Laneway Festival 2025.

Speaking to Music 101 from a backstage bathroom floor in Atlanta, she described her music as "hooky pop-songwriting through an alternative lens".

The California-born artist said she felt like she had really hit her stride this year, playing "the most fun shows" of her life.

"This is the first tour where I've really crafted the show, put so much time into it and so much care. I'm travelling with my band, my crew, everybody feels super supportive and locked in."

On thousands of people buying tickets to her shows, Wolf said it was "very beautiful and humbling and just really, really, really sick".

"I'm just allowing myself to take some breaths of peace and know that the show is good and kind of let myself have a little bit of fun."

Selling out three nights at NYC's King's Theatre recently was a real "pinch me" moment.

"Being able to sell over 10,000 tickets in New York ... that's a lot of people. I'm always in awe of people coming out and being so passionate about my music.

"I'm able to be passionate about my music because they're passionate about it. It's just like this gorgeous feedback loop that I sometimes just can't believe is really happening."
