The Black Caps' weaknesses have been exposed again, going down by 86 runs to Australia at the Cricket World Cup at Lord's.
Look back at RNZ's live commentary of the match here.
Batting first Australia made 243 off their 50 overs, in a rematch of the 2015 World Cup final.
In reply, New Zealand were all out for 157 in the 44th over, with skipper Kane Williamson top scoring with 40.
New Zealand's openers again failed to fire. Henry Nicholls, who was selected ahead of the under-performing Colin Munro, was out for 8.
Martin Guptill made a bright start, but got out for 20.
When Ross Taylor departed for 30, no other batsman offered any real resistance.
Mitchell Starc finished up with a five wicket haul.
Despite losing their last two games the Black Caps are still likely to make the semi-finals.
Earlier, Trent Boult became the first New Zealand bowler to claim a hat-trick in the World Cup.
In the final over of the innings Boult bowled Usman Khawaja, who had done all the damaged by then.
Boult then repeated the dosage on Mitchell Starc with a reverse-swinging yorker. The 29-year-old then completed the hat-trick with another yorker, trapping Jason Behrendorff plum in front, with the Australian given out both on field and following a review.
Boult's hat-trick marked his second in one-day cricket after he took one last November in Abu Dhabi. He finished with 4-51.
After Australia fell to 92 for 5, Khawaja steadied the innings with 88 and combined in a century stand with Alex Carey who hit 71.
New Zealand could have piled on more pressure had they held their chances.
They took two brilliant catches to remove Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell but also grassed a crucial opportunity to remove Usman Khawaja early.
Australia remain top of the points table.
The Black Caps final group game is against England on Wednesday.
