Concerns over the selling of expired goods in Kiribati

The minister of health in Kiribati has used Facebook to remind people to check the expiry date on food products they want to purchase.

Tauanei Marea said he was disappointed that so few people had the courage to report expired products to the authorities.

The minister was responding to concerns raised on social media about expired products still available for purchase.

Calls have been made for health inspectors to check retailers suspected of selling expired foodstuffs.
